Big Island of Hawaii Visitor Guide
The Big Island or, Hawai’i (Hawaii), truly has it all and the diversity here is like none other in the world. The Big Island offers world-class beaches, lava deserts, beautiful rain forests, an active volcano, and believe it or not, even snow-covered mountains.
The island of Hawaii is about the size of Connecticut and can fit all of the other Hawaiian Islands within its perimeter. This is the biggest island in the state, so it is commonly referred to as the Big Island. However, its Hawaiian name is Hawai’i. The state was named after this Hawaiian Island because this is where King Kamehameha the Great was from (stay tuned for more info on Kamehameha in our Luxury Advisor Blog Posts). In short, he’s the guy who brought all the islands under one rule for the first time. Generally speaking, most people refer to Hawaii as the Big Island and we will too.
